About the role

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll lead a team of backend engineers building Bolt’s licensed wallet platform, ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and compliant. You’ll stay close to architecture and key technical decisions, guiding the team in designing scalable backend services that power critical financial flows. The role involves close collaboration with product and engineering teams across multiple verticals to build a scalable and trusted financial foundation.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Leading and growing talented Backend Software Engineers, building and operating systems where failures have real user and operational impact.
  • Defining and driving the team roadmap together with Product.
  • Creating a team setup that enables predictable delivery, good engineering quality, and healthy collaboration.
  • Driving individual 1-1s to mentor and coach Software Engineers to develop skills and uncover their potential.
  • Communicating context and decisions clearly to engineers, stakeholders, and leadership.

About you:

  • You possess solid hands-on software development experience, and you’re comfortable staying hands-on with coding and technical decisions when needed .
  • You have experience owning a product or platform area end-to-end, not just individual projects. 
  • You’ve led high-performing engineering teams and bring strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of hiring, growing, and retaining talent.
  • You’re able to balance execution with long-term vision, set up effective engineering processes, and make data-driven decisions.
  • You have strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills, working effectively across teams.
  • You have experience working in payments or fintech.
