Product Staff Product Manager - Data Products at Snorkel AI

Staff Product Manager owns the product roadmap for AI data products, collaborating cross-functionally with research, GTM, and academic partners to shape datasets and competitive strategy.

Lead Posted about 24 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

About Snorkel

At Snorkel, we believe meaningful AI doesn’t start with the model, it starts with the data.

We’re on a mission to help enterprises transform expert knowledge into specialized AI at scale. The AI landscape has gone through incredible changes since 2015, when Snorkel started as a research project in the Stanford AI Lab, to the generative AI breakthroughs of today. But one thing has remained constant: the data you use to build AI is the key to achieving differentiation, high performance, and production-ready systems. We work with some of the world’s largest organizations to empower scientists, engineers, financial experts, product creators, journalists, and more to build custom AI with their data faster than ever before. Excited to help us redefine how AI is built? Apply to be the newest Snorkeler!

The Role

We’re looking for our founding AI Data Product Manager to own Snorkel’s Agentic Data and RL Environments roadmap. In this role, you’ll lead the product strategy for a variety of data types (e.g. Agentic Coding, Computer Use). You will shape the roadmap for the datasets Snorkel invests in by understanding the market, incorporating frontier lab needs and collaborating with researchers at Snorkel and our academic partners.

This role is highly cross-functional, sitting between Research, GTM and Operations. As a founding member for this role, you will be in charge of setting up the frameworks to build the roadmap, gather data from relevant sources, and share the roadmap with both internal and external stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the “data as a product” roadmap for Snorkel’s Agentic and RL Environment focus areas, working x-functionally with research, academic partners, and GTM to define the skills and capabilities for our datasets
  • Shape new “data” product areas and work with academic partners and research leaders to build Snorkel’s competitive edge in the market
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to help shape the roadmap and data strategy and influence business strategy

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of experience shaping technical roadmaps and working with researchers as stakeholders
  • Comfort with ambiguity and working with multiple technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments, setting up 0→1 products
  • AI and ML fluency, especially related to Frontier Agentic Workflows and RL Environments
  • 8+ years in product management, including 3+ years at senior/staff level owning a roadmap end-to-end (or 6+ years with a PhD/research background in ML)
  • Demonstrated ownership of a technical product where data itself was the deliverable — datasets, benchmarks, evals, annotation pipelines, or labeled corpora sold or shipped to external consumers
  • Working fluency in modern LLM post-training: SFT, preference data (RLHF/RLAIF), RLVR, reward modeling, and how data composition affects model capability. Must be able to hold a substantive conversation with a research scientist without an interpreter
  • Familiarity with agentic systems and the current agentic eval landscape (e.g. SWE-bench-style coding evals, terminal/computer-use benchmarks, tool-use and long-horizon task evaluation) and an informed view on where they fall short
  • Track record building product frameworks from zero — prioritization models, roadmap artifacts, intake processes — in an environment with no existing playbook
  • Experience operating across research, GTM, and operations simultaneously, with evidence of driving decisions through influence rather than authority
  • Direct customer-facing experience with highly technical buyers; ability to run a discovery conversation with an ML researcher or post-training lead and convert it into a roadmap commitment
  • Quantitative rigor: can size a market, model unit economics of a data program (cost per trajectory/task/environment), and defend prioritization with numbers
  • Strong technical foundation — comfortable reading research papers, discussing training dynamics with scientists, and reasoning about data pipelines end-to-end.
  • Ability to write clearly for two audiences at once — internal research/ops and external frontier lab stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical instincts — able to define success metrics for products that live close to research, where outcomes are often indirect.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience at an AI data/environments company or inside a frontier lab’s data, post-training, or evals org
  • Has built or specified RL environments — sandboxed/containerized task environments, verifiable reward design, task generation, environment scaling and reproducibility
  • Direct experience with agentic coding or computer-use data specifically: trajectory collection, rubric design, verifier construction, failure-mode taxonomy
  • Hands-on technical ability — can write Python, query data, run a model, and prototype an eval without engineering support
  • Experience selling or delivering into frontier labs, with an existing network among post-training, evals, or data acquisition leads
  • Experience structuring academic or research partnerships, including co-development of datasets or benchmarks
  • Published research, open-source datasets/benchmarks, or public writing that establishes credibility with the research community
  • Experience with pricing and packaging for bespoke or semi-standardized data contracts, and the tension between custom deals and repeatable product
  • Competitive intelligence muscle — has run structured win/loss or market mapping in a fast-moving, opaque market
  • Prior founding-PM or 0→1 experience at a company between Series B and IPO
  • Domain depth in one or more target verticals for agentic data (software engineering, enterprise workflows/CRM-ERP automation, finance, healthcare)
  • Experience with human-in-the-loop data pipelines, annotation quality systems, or synthetic data generation at scale.
  • Track record of leading large, cross-team initiatives without formal authority.

Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location.

Salary range(s) for this role

$260,000—$300,000 USD

Product Principal Product Manager, AI Assistant at Gusto

Leads product strategy and execution for an AI assistant at Gusto, using AI tools to prototype, design, and ship solutions that empower small businesses.

Lead Posted about 24 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

About Gusto

At Gusto, we’re on a mission to grow the small business economy. We handle the hard stuff — payroll, health insurance, 401(k)s, and HR — so owners can focus on their craft and their customers. With teams in Denver, San Francisco, and New York, we support more than 500,000 small businesses nationwide and are building a workplace that reflects the people we serve.

All full-time employees receive competitive base pay, benefits, and equity (RSUs) — because everyone who helps build Gusto should share in its success. Offer amounts are determined by role, level, and location. Learn more about our Total Rewards philosophy.

AI is a fundamental part of how work gets done at Gusto. We expect all team members to actively engage with AI tools relevant to their role and grow their fluency as the technology evolves. AI experience requirements vary by role and will be assessed during the interview process.

By the Numbers:

  • Named #1 best software for small business of 2024 by G2
  • 2,700+ employees in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Turkiye and growing
  • Over $500M in annual revenue
  • The SMB market is large (and growing!) with huge opportunities for Gusto to make an incredible impact for SMBs
    • There are 6.2M employers in the US, 98% have fewer than 100 employees (1)
    • 550,000 new businesses are created each year in the US (1)

What Product Management is like at Gusto:

  • Our Product team is lean, which means you’ll have a high degree of impact and ownership. We believe in smaller, empowered teams that move quickly with less overhead. You’ll move fast by pairing sharp product judgment with fluency in AI tools automating what slows teams down and amplifying what makes them creative and high-performing.
  • We’re boundaryless builders. Lines between roles are intentionally blurred, and our PMs do whatever it takes to deliver outcomes. You’ll prototype, automate, design, and ship using AI as your co-builder to turn problems into durable solutions that deliver customer value with urgency and care.
  • We’re here to serve small and medium businesses. Gusto has a strong mission-driven culture, and we care deeply about lifting up these business owners building technology for an AI-first world that gives them the superpowers to run and grow their businesses with confidence.
  • We’re comfortable with change. Our environment moves fast, and PMs here thrive in ambiguity blending curiosity, experimentation, and AI-native craft to shape how products (and work itself) are built at Gusto.

About the CoreX AI team:

CoreX AI builds and powers AI experiences that make Gusto the best teammate for small businesses. Our largest AI bets embed directly in small business workflows whether that’s answering a quick question or handling the task itself. Our customers trust us with their payroll, their employees’ benefits, and their money decisions where mistakes have real, immediate consequences. We give small businesses trusted and powerful AI tools that supercharge how they work.

We’re at an inflection point across everything we own, and we’re looking for a product leader ready to accelerate our AI bets as we build toward that future. This is a role for builders who can work across Gusto, reason about API design and model behavior as comfortably as customer experience, and bring hands-on experience building with AI.

We’re at an inflection point across everything we own, and we’re looking for a product leader ready to accelerate our AI bets as we build toward that future. This is a role for builders who can work across Gusto, reason about API design and model behavior as comfortably as customer experience, and bring hands-on experience building with AI.

About the Role:

You’ll define how Gusto’s conversational assistant works, behaves, and earns customer trust and how small businesses use it to get real work done across payroll, benefits, HR, and beyond.

  • Develop a deep understanding of how small businesses actually work inside Gusto today the workflows they run, where they get stuck, and the work they’d hand off if they could
  • Lead the product vision for Gusto’s conversational assistant that gives small businesses superpowers, and turn it into a coherent strategy a sharp perspective on where the assistant earns real value, and what we build first
  • Expand what the assistant can actually do. You’ll partner with domain teams to grow tool and domain coverage across payroll, time, benefits, and compliance, and hold the bar on quality as coverage grows measured in real actions customers complete, not conversations they have
  • Define how we show up in our customers’ ecosystem and the surfaces where work naturally happens third-party connectors, messaging channels, and AI clients and decide what earns priority against the depth we have in the app
  • Partner with engineering and data teams on technical trade-offs: how we expose Gusto’s capabilities to agents through our API and MCP layer, how the assistant embeds into our first-party surfaces, and where we take on debt to move faster
  • Partner with design and UXR to understand how customers actually feel about AI acting on their behalf, and use that to shape how we build
  • Move fast. Speed is our top priority, and you’ll set a pace that reflects it shipping narrow slices that get customers value early rather than waiting on the complete build

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • 10+ years building as a product manager, with experience owning meaningful scope and driving broad product or platform-level decisions
  • You’re comfortable in a high-visibility role engaging directly with Gusto leadership and product leaders across the company, and driving decisions that stick
  • You believe in what AI can do for small businesses, and you’re excited to build it.
  • You understand what it takes to build trusted AI products: writing evals, holding a real point of view on AI quality, and assuming the responsibility of a product customers rely on day-to-day
  • You’re hands-on and you’d rather build than delegate — and you thrive in a culture that expects it
  • You’re comfortable spanning both platform thinking and UX/experience judgment within the same role
  • You develop sharp perspectives on the systems AI products need — RAG, ontology, and a scalable API strategy for agent-accessible systems
  • You’re comfortable with a fluid, expanding charter. This isn’t a role with a static roadmap, given how fast AI development and the competitive landscape are moving.

Our cash compensation amount for this role is $179,000,000/yr to $220,000/yr in Denver & most major metro locations, and $210,000/yr to $260,000/yr for San Francisco, Seattle & New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate location, experience, and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto’s subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.

Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.

When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required. This includes non-office days for hybrid employees.

Our customers come from all walks of life and so do we. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it makes our company stronger. If you share our values and our enthusiasm for small businesses, you will find a home at Gusto.

Gusto is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate in hiring or any employment decision based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), marital status, ancestry, physical or mental disability, genetic information, veteran status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or other applicable legally protected characteristic. Gusto considers qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with applicable federal, state and local law. Gusto is also committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans in our job application procedures. We want to see our candidates perform to the best of their ability. If you require a medical or religious accommodation at any time throughout your candidate journey, please fill out this form and a member of our team will get in touch with you.

Gusto takes security and protection of your personal information very seriously. Please review our Fraudulent Activity Disclaimer.

Personal information collected and processed as part of your Gusto application will be subject to Gusto’s Applicant Privacy Notice.

Principal Product Manager, Couchbase Mobile

Location: Remote — US-based

About the Role

Couchbase is hiring a Principal Product Manager to own execution for the Couchbase Mobile portfolio — Couchbase Lite, Sync Gateway / Capella App Services, and Edge Server. This is a mature, widely-adopted portfolio, and this Principal-level role owns the execution rigor — release quality, developer experience, and technical depth of requirements — that keeps it excellent as it grows to support edge and on-device AI use cases.

The portfolio spans a full cloud-to-edge-to-device data layer: Couchbase Lite is the embedded database inside mobile, desktop, and web apps; Sync Gateway and Capella App Services provide self-managed and fully managed sync backends; and Edge Server is our lightweight, resource-constrained edge database for environments. Increasingly, these products also need to support AI-powered applications running at the edge, where data has to stay local, fast, and always available. You’ll need a real point of view on how to extend the portfolio, grounded in hands-on technical judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Turn product strategy for the Couchbase Mobile portfolio (Couchbase Lite, Sync Gateway, Capella App Services, Edge Server) into a detailed, well-sequenced roadmap, and drive it through to shipped, adopted product with rigor.
  • Own end-to-end execution day-to-day: write detailed technical product requirements, partner closely with engineering and design, validate pre-release features hands-on, and contribute to the operational cadence (JIRA, sprint/roadmap reviews, agile ceremonies).
  • Bring operational excellence to a mature, multi-product portfolio — tighten release quality, close gaps in documentation and developer experience, and systematically remove friction that’s built up across established products.
  • Shape how the portfolio supports on-device and edge AI use cases, and turn that into concrete, engineering-ready requirements that keep the mobile/edge products relevant as AI moves to the edge.
  • Work directly with customers and prospects to pressure-test use cases and turn them into functional requirements and clear build/don’t-build calls.
  • Be the first line of product ownership on live customer escalations — working directly with field, sales, and support leadership to unblock accounts, and driving fixes through engineering.
  • Act as the portfolio’s lead technical evangelist: represent Couchbase Mobile in talks, webinars, technical content, and arm sales, solutions engineering, and marketing with the training and positioning they need.
  • Represent the portfolio in cross-org planning with senior leadership — this is leadership through execution excellence and technical depth, not people management.

What You Need

  • 8+ years of product management experience, with a track record of driving flawless execution for a mature product or portfolio at scale — distributed systems, databases, or developer platforms strongly preferred.
  • In addition to the PM experience above, 3+ years of hands-on software development experience — writing or architecting production applications yourself, not just working alongside engineers who do.
  • Demonstrated ability to take an already-successful, mature product and materially improve how well it’s executed — release quality, operational rigor, developer experience — not just an ability to conceive new products from scratch.
  • A genuine technical/developer background: you’ve built or architected client-side applications (mobile, desktop, or web) yourself, and you’re comfortable prototyping. Fluency in client mobile app technologies (Flutter, KMM etc) is a plus.
  • Practical understanding of the concepts behind complex distributed systems — high availability, disaster recovery, security and access control — and how they apply not just to mobile/embedded apps but to server-side sync infrastructure (Sync Gateway, Capella App Services). Familiarity with a public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • A working, opinionated understanding of edge computing and AI concepts relevant to on-device and edge inference — and the judgment to turn that into product strategy rather than buzzwords.
  • AI-forward in how you work, not just what you ship: you already use AI tools in your own day-to-day PM process (requirements, research, analysis) and push that adoption across the team.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills is a must: equally comfortable in a deep technical design review with engineers and in front of customers, press, or executive leadership.
  • Fluency with agile development process and tooling (JIRA or equivalent), and experience operating in a fast-moving, cross-functional org without waiting to be told what to do.
  • A high bar for ownership — hard-working, self-directed, and comfortable setting direction under ambiguity and driving alignment across engineering, marketing, and sales without formal authority.
  • A strong team player — curious and collaborative, with plenty of good ideas to contribute, and happy to take the time to learn the product and the team.

Base salary is not the only component of our competitive total rewards package - you may also be eligible for bonus, commissions, and other benefits as described below. Principal Product Manager, Couchbase Mobile

What this role involves

Who We Are

For over 20 years, SPINS has been a leader in recognizing the transformative power of data in retail. We offer our clients cutting-edge tools to attract attention from a fast-growing segment within the Health & Wellness industry, the values-based consumer. Nearly half of shoppers prioritize products that emphasize wellness, social responsibility, and sustainable practices. SPINS retail consumer insights, analytics, and consulting services give our clients a competitive advantage to increase their share of this growing market. Our data is the most comprehensive and accurate in the industry, allowing clients to power AI models and machine learning algorithms that help them better understand and meet their customers’ needs. At SPINS, behind all of our impressive data is our real differentiator, our people. We pride ourselves on our collaborative, flexible, and communicative culture that puts people at the center of everything we do.

Senior Manager, Product Management

SPINS is looking for a Sr. Manager of Product Management to join the Commercial Applications Team. The Commercial Applications team supports the SPINS Portal, the shared gateway and utility layer that serves all SPINS applications — including Intelligence, Journey, and Foundry.Commercial Applications also just launched SPINS Intelligence, our flagship AI-powered analytics platform serving hundreds of CPG brands, brokers, and retailers. This is a player-coach role. You will set product strategy, align stakeholders, and make prioritization calls — but you will also roll up your sleeves and write stories, triage bugs with clients, review sprint output, and build deep firsthand expertise in the product and data. We need a leader who earns credibility through knowledge and execution, not just title. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with strong CPG industry acumen and a genuine willingness to dive into the work.

What You Will Do

  • Set Product Strategy — Contribute to the vision and roadmap for SPINS Intelligence and Portal. Balance innovation, commercial impact, and cross-application needs across the business.
  • Drive AI & Automation — Lead where AI, NLP, and automation create real client value — from the Workflow Utilities to natural-language querying to agentic analytics. Make grounded build-vs-partner decisions.
  • Be Hands-On — Write stories, define acceptance criteria, triage client issues, and review sprint deliverables. Model the standard you expect from your team.
  • Lead Cross-Functional Execution — Partner with Engineering, Data, Design, Commercial, and Finance to ship quality product. Drive provisioning, onboarding, and GTM for major launches.
  • Build & Develop the PM Team — Mentor, and develop PMs. Establish operating rhythms, quality standards, and a culture of ownership and honest communication.
  • Engage Clients & Market — Spend real time with brand, broker, and retailer clients to understand workflows and pain points. Translate field insight into product direction.
  • Manage Product Economics — Own KPIs, revenue contribution, COGS, adoption data, and capacity. Build business cases for investment.

What You Bring

  • 6–12+ years in CPG/ product management, 3+ years leading PMs or cross-functional product teams
  • Deep experience building SaaS analytics platforms, data products, or BI solutions — ideally in CPG, retail, or market research
  • Strong CPG industry knowledge: you understand how brands, brokers, and retailers use syndicated data and analytics day-to-day
  • Proven ability to set strategy and also operate hands-on — writing stories, triaging bugs, engaging directly with clients
  • Experience shipping AI/ML-powered capabilities (NLP, workflow automation, recommendations, or similar)
  • Strong technical acumen — comfortable with data pipelines, APIs, Snowflake/GCP, and engineering trade-off discussions
  • Excellent communication: boardroom to backlog, exec presentations to story acceptance criteria
  • Experience with Agile tools and practices (Jira, Pendo, etc.)

Preferred

  • Experience with SPINS, IRI/Circana, Nielsen, or similar syndicated data platforms
  • Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, or agentic AI product design
  • Background building portal/platform strategies that unify multiple applications under a shared experience
  • PE-backed or high-growth environment experience

Salary Range: $130,000-$140,000

Product Director, Product Growth at Roofr

Director leads product growth strategy by designing activation/expansion paths, orchestrating hybrid sales-product motion, and overseeing cross-functional growth team.

Lead Posted 3 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

At Roofr, we’re obsessed with our customers. We constantly gather feedback to shape, prioritize, and launch the products they truly need. That’s what makes Roofr’s CRM special. We started by building essential sales tools like aerial roof measurements and digital sales proposals. But when our customers asked for a simple, affordable way to manage and scale their entire businesses, we listened. So, we created a CRM that connects these solutions—along with payments, material ordering, and more—into a seamless, powerful platform. With a clear roadmap ahead, we’re excited to continue expanding and leading the market with innovative products.

We have an amazing culture, strong financials, and best-in-class company metrics. It’s an exciting time to be part of an extraordinary startup that is already successful, yet still early enough to offer its team significant growth, equity, and the opportunity to make a real impact.

This position is for an existing vacancy.

Roofr is looking for a Director, Product Growth to own how we grow through the product. You’ll work at the intersection of product, data, and go-to-market: designing the activation and expansion paths that keep contractors engaged, surfacing product signals that unlock sales conversations, and building a stronger self-serve experience anchored in friction-less SMB UI/UX. You’ll report to the CPO, sit on the product leadership team, and lead a cross-functional Growth team that includes Engineering, Design, Data Science, and a Principal PM as your direct report.

Initial building blocks are already in place. We have a clear activation metric that guides both our self-serve and sales-assist motion, a hybrid model that is actively evolving, and an AI product line in AI Receptionist that is ready to scale. The job is to take what’s working, sharpen it, and build on top of it.

What You’ll be measured on

  • Software adoption across the subscriber base
  • Orchestration of the hybrid motion
  • Self-serve revenue growth, shared with the GM of Measurements

What You’ll get to do

  • Orchestrate the hybrid motion with Sales: Identify the product signals that indicate a contractor is ready for a sales conversation and build the playbooks that turn those signals into pipeline, across both new subscriber acquisition and expansion of the existing base
  • Drive activation and expansion: Own the in-product experience that gets new contractors to value fast and design the expansion loops that drive deeper adoption and multi-product retention across the customer base
  • Grow self-serve revenue: Own the self-serve motion across transactional and subscription products, with particular focus on Measure+ and in-product upgrade paths
  • Lead the team and the metrics: Lead the Growth team, including Engineering, Design, and Data Science, build a fast experimentation culture, and own the growth metrics that matter to leadership

What You’ll bring to the role

  • 8 to 12+ years of product growth experience in B2B SaaS; vertical SaaS is a strong plus
  • Real experience building a hybrid product-led and sales-led motion. You have felt the friction of making these work together, not just read about it
  • Strong activation and expansion instincts. You know how to design user journeys that drive measurable improvement in time-to-value and long-term retention
  • Experience working across both transactional and subscription revenue models
  • Comfortable running experiments end to end: designing them, setting success criteria, and shipping without waiting for perfect conditions
  • Fluent in growth metrics like activation rate, adoption, expansion revenue, and NRR. You run your own analysis
  • Experience with tools like Amplitude, HubSpot, and Snowflake or a comparable data warehouse
  • Experience building or scaling an AI-powered product is a meaningful differentiator
  • Able to lead and develop cross-functional teams in an environment where everyone doesn’t work for you. You work alongside your team, not just above it
  • Clear communicator at every level, from executive to analyst
  • Based in the US or Canada

Compensation Band: $250,000.00 - $300,000.00 USD

Our compensation ranges are built using multiple market benchmarks and reflect both the scope of the role and current market data. Feel free to use AI to prep, research, or get pumped up for your interview (we see you, ChatGPT power users 👀). But when it’s time to chat, we’d love to meet you, not your AI alter ego. Bring your real, unfiltered self, we promise we will too.

And don’t worry, a real, live human is behind every part of our process. Every application is reviewed by a real person, and you’ll always speak with real humans throughout the interview process. No bots, just good people ☺️

Product Lead Editor Product Manager at Descript

Lead product manager owns the narrative editing team's roadmap, shapes script-first video editing features, and partners with AI research to launch cutting-edge regeneration and automation capabilities.

What this role involves

About the role

Descript’s script-based editing features are at the heart of why creators trust us for their highest-stakes content. Product launches. Client interviews. Marketing campaigns. Content that represents them to their audiences.

As Lead Product Manager of the Narrative Editing team, you’ll own how users capture, edit, and perfect their stories. You’ll shape the script-first editing that makes video as simple as a document, the recording and writing tools that let users create without leaving Descript, and the AI regeneration features that make edits feel seamless and natural.

This is an opportunity to shape features that professional creators depend on while working with cutting-edge AI, a product users love, and a small, collaborative team where your impact is immediate and visible.

What you’ll do

  • Develop a deep understanding of our customers, their creative goals, and the evolving AI video landscape — and use those insights to guide the editor roadmap
  • Bring Descript’s taste for great video into interactions and defaults, so creators naturally produce polished, professional work
  • Continuously expand our editing capabilities with frontier AI technology by partnering with our AI Research team, launching features like video regeneration and automatic speaker identification
  • Own the recording, script generation, and translation flows that help users achieve their end-to-end video workflows directly in Descript
  • Ensure Descript scales reliably for larger teams and more complex workflows

Who you are

  • You’ve built deceptively powerful tools: You have 5 or more years of product management experience shipping creative tools or workflow products that feel simple enough for everyone, but scale to handle sophisticated use cases. You are a systems-minded product thinker who excels at designing intuitive experiences for complex, end-to-end workflows.
  • You start with the customer: Plenty of “AI products” start with the technology and they all suck. You care deeply about understanding customers, and have experience in doing customer discovery and defining features that solve real problems.
  • You are a fog sculptor: There are aspects to our editor and its design that do not have real competitors yet. The product intuition and design conventions have not been decided. You are attracted to ambiguous problems, know how to ask smart questions, and translate ideas into action.
  • You care about craft: Our product is not a hype machine that runs on empty promises and vaporware. We think our product will be successful because people love to use it. That means you sweat the details. But without the sweat, because you aren’t stressed out.
  • You are funny, creative, maybe kind of weird: Ok, this isn’t a hard requirement but Descript is kind of a quirky place and the people who love it tend to _like_ that about working here. So, just want to drop a hint early on. Also, the sense of humor is important because even though we take our work seriously it’s still just, like, video creation and editing. We aren’t flying rockets into space so let’s all have a good time.

The base salary range for this role is $225,000 - $290,000. Final offer amounts will carefully consider multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise, location, level, and may vary from the amount above.

About Descript

Descript is building a simple, intuitive, fully-powered editing tool for video and audio — an editing tool built for the age of AI. We are a team of 150 and the backing of some of the world’s greatest investors (OpenAI, Andreessen Horowitz, Redpoint Ventures, Spark Capital).

Descript is the special company that’s in possession of both product market fit and the raw materials (passionate user community, great product, large market) for growth, but is still early enough that each new employee has a measurable influence on the direction of the company.

Benefits include a generous healthcare package, 401k matching program, catered lunches, and flexible vacation time. Our headquarters are located in the Mission District of San Francisco, CA. We’re hiring for a mix of remote roles and hybrid roles.  For those who are remote, we have a handful of opportunities throughout the year for in person collaboration.  For our hybrid roles, we’re flexible, and you’re an adult—we don’t expect or mandate that you’re in the office every day. We do believe there are valuable and serendipitous moments of discovery and collaboration that come from working together in person.

Descript is an equal opportunity workplace—we are dedicated to equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, or Veteran status. We believe in actively building a team rich in diverse backgrounds, experiences, and opinions to better allow our employees, products, and community to thrive.
